Servers & PCs Depending upon the size of your organisation you may decide that a server just the device you need. So what does a server offer you? For smaller organisations the usual prime motivation is to provide a central place to store data where it can be easily shared within your organisation, and centrally backed up. Similarly with email services, a server can act as a central distribution point for all company emails, distributing them to the individual users. Larger organisations may deploy one or more servers, where each server provides a dedicated function, or service the needs of dedicated workgroups, especially remote users. Servers themselves tend to be more robust machines than standard desktop PCs. They are build to provide non-stop service, usually running 24/7, with built-in redundancy for the main parts such as dual processors, dual power supplies, and RAID array hard drive arrangements. Their operating systems tend to be more complex and require a different skill set to that of the PC. This in turn means that an organisation will need to employ a server "Administrator" who can look after the day-to-day issues that arise, and make sure that specialist support services are available at short notice in the event of failure. If you would like to talk about your server requirements, either for a new server, or for skilled support of your existing server, please contact us. Please call back...................
